The Yendor Interview
Posted by Arthur Coddington on 06/28/04 7:08 PM
|
Yendor Martikonis is perhaps the most enigmatic figure in freestyle. A staple at nearly every major freestyle event over the past decade, Martikonis has chronicled freestyle yet remained elusive. Everpresent but hard to spot, Martikonis more than anyone has offered the perspective of a freestyle observer, albeit an observer with an astounding knowledge of the sport. Always in the right place at the right time, Martikonis has seen many of the pivotal moments in freestyle and overheard countless revealing conversations among elite players. In a rare, exclusive interview for Shrednow, Martikonis shares his thoughts about freestyle.

Clay Collera: Una "Non Intervista" A Un Giocatore Di Frisbee
Posted by Lui Tasini on 12/18/03 9:40 AM

Jake Gauthier: Ask Your Older Brother
Posted by Arthur Coddington on 12/02/03 2:01 PM
|

Portland, Oregon's Jake Gauthier is among the best freestylers yet to win a major title. Playing mostly with his younger brother Matt, Jake has risen steadily thruogh the ranks since 1997 to his current rank of #12. He has made the world championship pairs final for the past four years and placed as high as fourth.
In 2003, Jake teamed with Randy Silvey in pairs for "Back In Black," one of the most talked-about routines of the year. They made a big splash in April, nailing the routine for second place at the World Beach tournament in Mission Beach, beating top seeds Arthur Coddington and Dave Lewis and narrowly missing out on first place to Dave Murphy and Dave Schiller. They followed up Mission Beach with top five finishes at both the World Disc Games and the FPA Worlds.
Not content to simply hone his skills, Jake and Matt have contributed to the sport by creating heinsville.com, hosting tournaments and marketing products like the Whiz Ring and custom freestyle nails.
Shrednow spoke to Jake while he rehabilitates his knee after a beach jamming injury.

Cindy Kruger will finish 2003 as the number one player on the FPA Women’s Rankings. Based in the Seattle, Washington area, she has won the FPA Worlds Women’s Pairs title three times (1998, 1999, 2003) and the Mixed Pairs title in 2002. Not content to dominate Women’s competitions, Kruger has been a frequent entrant in the Open division with great success. She has flirted with the top 20 in the Open rankings, reaching a high of #21 this year. In early November, she teamed with Lisa Silvey and Mary Lowry to tie for second place at the Arizona States. Shrednow interviews Cindy Kruger about her game, freestyle, Seattle, late night dancing, and her plans for 2004.
